On every second rink we can have:

  • For fully vaccinated persons- 5 fully vaccinated persons plus Club coach (maximum 2 households per group). (This may mean that there are only 2 bowlers allowed per rink plus Club coach)
  • For non- fully vaccinated persons (includes partially or not at all vaccinated) – 2 people plus Club coach (max 2 households per group.)

Please continue to check in using the QR code and there will be a rostered club member to assist in allocating rinks and player number control.

Hopefully this situation will only continue for a few more weeks and we can then get back to bowling with full rinks.  Your co-operation is appreciated.

Regard
Bowls Committee.

3rd October 2021

Dear Members

Further to our email of 30th September we are pleased to announce that we will return to playing practice and roll-up bowls from Tuesday 5th October as this will give the greenkeepers time to prepare the greens.

As you will be aware all bowlers must comply with Bowls Victoria’s Return To Play Guidelines ( RPG ) dated 1st Oct 2021.

Following a joint Board and Bowls Committee meeting held this morning we have listed below the requirements that must be followed to meet both the Bowls Victoria’s RPG’s and Mooroolbark Bowls Club directives.

Bowls practice and roll-ups will be permitted from 9:00am Tuesday 5th  October. There will be set times of 90min per session as follows.

Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday & Sunday.   9 :00am to 10:30am,  10:30am to 12:00pm, 12:00pm to 1:30pm,  1:30pm to 3:00pm,  3:00pm to 4:30pm,  4:30pm to 6:00pm  ( please note that the Club will close/ lock up  by 6:30pm)

Monday ( commencing 11th Oct) 1:00pm to 3:00pm, 3:00 to 4:30pm,  4:30pm to 6:00pm
Wednesday and Friday   10:30am to 12:00pm,  12:00pm to 1:30pm, 1:30pm to 3:00pm,  3:00pm to 4:30pm, 4:30pm to 6:00pm ( greens maintenance prior to 10:30am).

  •  Depending on numbers of players present you may be limited to one hour of practice. There will be four rinks per green available.
  • Booking is not required , just turn up at one of the nominated times. This may change if there are a large number of bowlers kept waiting.
  •  Similar to the previous situation there will be an attendance book that bowlers must complete.
  • There will be a rostered Bowls Committee or Board member present to assist with rink allocation and player number control
  • All bowlers will need to supply the Club with their proof of vaccination or exemption certificate, either by emailing it to the Club at mooroolbarkmembers@gmail.com or bringing a hard copy or phone  photo with them.
  • All remaining COVID  requirements : QR Check-in, Social Distancing, sanitising etc must be followed.
  • Spectators are still not allowed
  • The Clubhouse remains closed until further notice
  • Please note that until the Clubhouse ( bar ) is open, and in accordance with the Liquor Licensing Act, no alcohol is allowed to be consumed at the Club.

As this is a new and challenging situation for the Club there may be some fine tuning required to ensure a smooth return to play so please be patient and if you have any constructive suggestions we would be pleased to hear them. Also If you are aware of members who do not have a computer and therefore will not have received this information could you please let them know.

So on behalf of the Bowls Committee and the Board of Management welcome back.

29th Sept 2021

We have been advised by Bowls Victoria this afternoon that their statement dated 29th September is still the situation. Bowls Vic are trying to get clarification from the State Government regarding if we can have multiple groups of fully vaccinated members on the greens and they will make a further statement as soon as they can.
The Board of Management and the Bowls Committee are keen to open up the greens and the Club House ASAP and have requested the Greenkeeper to get the greens ready for play as soon as possible.
We hope to give you the good news in the next couple of days.
Board of Management and The Bowls Committee

The full RETURN TO PLAY Guidelines can be accessed at this  link

Bowls Victoria cannot make rules around COVID, only Government can. Government assured us we would have answers Tuesday night, by midnight. The Health department released the Restricted Activity Directions after midnight, but unfortunately they do not contain the key information of how many groups of 5 are permitted for roll-ups. Nor do they state the distance required between groups.

Therefore, at this stage, each facility (whether it be a bowls club, tennis club, golf club etc) is only allowed 5 fully vaccinated persons, or 2 who are not fully vaccinated on the entire facility.

We have contacted multiple sources in Government today on multiple occasions and have been advised to just ask people to be patient and bear with us (Government) for the moment. They will get something to us as soon as they know more.

We note there are no minimum distances listed for picnics in the park, and therefore hope the same logic and common sense is applied to bowls.

Until we receive further advice the below are updated Return to Play guidelines outlining the 5/2 rule for Metro Melbourne, Mitchell Shire and City of Latrobe (areas coming out of lockdown), as well as other guidelines for the rest of Regional Victoria.

EFFECTIVE FRIDAY 28TH MAY 2021

Dear Members,
As most of you will know following today’s State Government
announcement  there is a COVID lockdown in force from 11:59 pm 27th May
for the next 7 days.

During this time the Club will be closed with no access to the greens
and the Clubrooms. If for some reason you require access to the
Clubrooms you must get approval from one of the Directors.

We will update you of any changes to these requirements.

Hope to see you soon and stay safe

Board of Management

Mooroolbark Bowls Club.

EFFECTIVE FROM SAT 31ST OCTOBER, YOU WILL NO LONGER NEED TO BOOK YOUR ROLL UP SO THE RINK BOOKING CALENDAR HAS BEEN REMOVED.

With the easing of restrictions on 30th October, we can have 32 players per green for pennant practice.   Due to the short leadtime for pennant, all social bowls will be considered as part of pennant practice.  1 Grass and theSynthetic will be open.   Therefore the booking calendar will no longer be required and you may attend the club as per usual from Tue-Sun, and Mon from 1.30pm.   For CONTACT TRACING please ensure you sign in and out on the blue book at the front of the clubhouse.

Social bowls will be restarting on Wed 4th Nov, Fri 6th Nov and Sat 7th Nov.    You can put your name down on the sheets inside the clubhouse.     Any enquiries, call Peter Meyer (Wed/Sat) and Don McKie (Fri).     There is no access to the kitchen, so there will be no teabreak.  Please bring your own water, tea or coffee.

Club championship entry forms will also be on the noticeboard shortly, with start date for  Men’s and Ladies Singles 22nd Nov, Open Minor Singles 29th Nov, Men’s & Ladies Pairs 6th Dec and Men’s Triples  20th Nov.    We realise this is short notice to get your names in, but unfortunately this is the result of the covid lockdown and if we want to get through all the events we need to start ASAP.  We’d be grateful if you can pass this information to everyone you know who may not be aware of it.    A championship schedule will be posted on the notice board shortly.

Please note that all COVID safe guidlines are still in place.   For contact tracing you will be required to sign in when you arrive for roll ups in the blue book at the door, unless your name is on an entry sheet for a social game, in which case the entry sheet will be used for contact tracing.
